Most of us both need and want to work. We spend much of our waking lives in the company of people who are with us by circumstance rather than choice. Working relationships range from the cordial and caring to the indifferent and uncomfortable. How are we to cope with others when we cannot choose who we mix with?

Human relationships are unbelievably complex. Much of what goes on between people is non-verbal and unconscious. We find ourselves unaccountably annoyed by people or liking them for no apparent reason other than "chemistry" or "good vibes". If we are to have satisfactory relationships it pays us to get our unconscious reactions to people out in the open.
